Privacy Policy

Introduction

In order to build a better, personalized language learning experience, we at Sip collect data and information regarding what you know and how you learn. We understand the sensitivity and concerns regarding this, and hold ourselves to high standards to be transparent and secure with your trust.

This privacy policy will outline the different ways we use data and information to build the best language learning experience we can for our users.

Information we collect

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

Registration

In order to use this website, a user must first complete the registration form. During registration, a user is required to give certain identifying information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the products/services on our site in which you have expressed interest. As an option, you may also provide demographic information (such as gender or age) about yourself, but it is not required.

User Profile

In order to create a personalized and interesting language learning experience, Sip captures a variety of data to better outline your particular experience. We use email and popular trusted third-party authentication (Facebook, Google, etc.) to associate you with your profile, as well as provide a mechanism to contact you in regards to product announcements, promotions, and other language-learning communications. In the context of authentication, we capture and securely store session data in order to handle security, as well as cater to your learning behaviors.

As we expand our product offering, we will recommend you modules and content based on your learning style and personal preferences. While we handle this with algorithms in the service, it is ultimately revolved around building the best experience for YOU. As your explore and consume more modules, we will remember your personal learning style and improve the amount of knowledge and relevance the modules pertain to the individual.

Intelligent language learning involves creating an abstract model of the current knowledge our users hold. Sip identifies your proficiency and knowledge gap in a particular language; as you consume learning modules, we intelligently capture the state of your language proficiency, which is used to recommend and train future modules that are relevant to you.

Commercial and Product Communications

As we grow our product offerings and improve user experience, we may reach out  to individual users to communicate our progress and direction. We will provide mechanisms to opt in or out of communications and notifications, as each user may have different preferences as to how they wish to receive updates.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.

Session and Activity Data

From a product perspective, we aim to support a variety of devices and locales. As such, location and device information from active and historical sessions will be used to regionalize your user experience. We look to make language learning a universally enjoyable process, and hope to support a diversity of locales, languages, and users. Sessions are also used to increase software security, in order to make sure the only person logged into a known account is YOU.
